Investigating Lighting
Investigating Lighting For My Film Opening!
Hi everyone!
I have bought a very cool lamp to help me with the lighting, and yesterday I tried to find the best way to create an ambient atmosphere. Firstly, I tried taking the pictures without any object or person but I realised that I could not fully analyse the effect without anything to stand in the light; that's why I used a special guest to help me with the pictures...
Hope you like it!

The Lamp and some Lighting Tests:
Here is the lamp and some lighting tests of different colours:
Testing for the Best Ambient Light:
After playing around with the lighting, I decided to investigate the best ambient light for the flash-forward scene in my film opening.
First, I tried with the light exactly where I had it and simply changed to the more atmospherical colour. It was positioned too high and hence it gave an effect that was too cold.
Next, I tried positioning it lower on the same colour which achieved a warmer effect that looked quite natural but cosy at the same time. It definitely creates that soft lighting that would help my characters open up to each other.
Finally, by moving the source of light closer to the teddybear, it created a much warmer effect that looked very cosy and soft. It looks more artificial than the previous two but also achieves the warmest atmosphere of all.
The Verdict:
I really liked the effect created by the last two lighting modes. I will film in a different location and with my actors, so when I get there I will try the different lightings and see which one works best!
