Making a Boarding Pass to Australia!

I want to dedicate this post to how I designed one of my props. It wasn't especially challenging, but it took a lot of steps, and I thought I would share the process with you :)

Why I am doing this...

Making a boarding pass to Australia seems a rather odd choice, but it has its purpose. An interesting way to create meaning through the mise-en-scène is to hint at a part of the plot without making a direct reference to it. 

In my film plot, Summer's parents are divorced and her mum is getting married again (which is why she has to move to another town in the first place). This is also referenced through the mise-en-scène with the photo of the newlywed couple. However, I wanted to make an even more subtle reference to the fact that her father lives all the way in Australia, which would become important later in the plot.

To make a reference to this, I decided that making a boarding pass to Australia would be enough of a subtle, yet relevant prop. This is the final result:
